Teleblend Deal Between Unified Communications and 8X8

Thanks to a comment left by Aaron Cook on the previous post, the mystery of “Teleblend” has apparently been solved. Mr. Cook pointed out a recent article in the Wall Street Journal that confirms the new company Teleblend is the result of a deal between 8X8 (VoIP company Packet8) and Unified Communications (I think this is their website).

The article states that Sunrocket customers who transfer their phone numbers to Packet 8 VoIP will not have to pay the usual startup costs. Teleblend is offering ex-Sunrocket customers unlimited internet phone service for only $12.95 a month for the remainder of their contract.

I’m glad to hear that Teleblend doesn’t appear to be a scam after all, although all indications indicated that this was a company to watch out for initially. I think Teleblend should have explained the 8X8/Unified deal in the email that went out to Sunrocket customers, as this might have resolved any suspicions early on. But, that’s over and done with now, and life goes on…. I’m also happy to know that Packet8 is involved in this deal because I think they are one of the best VoIP providers available.

Packet8 is a great internet phone service company, and happens to be the VoIP provider that I use. Unlimited service costs $199 a year for the annual plan, or $24.99 a month for unlimited monthly service. They have been in the broadband phone service business for around 20 years and are financially strong. The majority of Packet8 customers are business VoIP users, but they have a strong base of residential VoIP subscribers as well.

Thanks again to Aaron for leaving this information :) Much appreciated!!!

As a former Sunrocket customer, I did sign up with Teleblend, but today had no ability to make outgoing phone calls and still have absolutely no features. So I did some research on alternate voip services. I called voip.com (on my cellphone) and was disconnected the first time, and could not be heard by the rep the second time. I called viatalk and was told that due to overwhelming number of calls I had to sign up on the web. But I wanted to be able to talk to a rep and ask some questions. Then I called voipyourlife and immediately was connected to a helpful person. Their unlimited service is more expensive 23.95/mo. plus 3.50 in 911 and federal taxes, but there is no termination fee (as apparently there is with Packet8). They agreed to waive activation fee of 19.95. I'm going to give them a try as good customer service has become a refreshing surprise in this business.
