Voip.com Rescuing Lots of Sunrocket Subscribers
I just got an email from a manager at Voip.com, who tells me their phones are going crazy with calls from ex-Sunrocket customers. When Sunrocket VoIP lines started going down last night, subscribers started scrambling to find a replacement internet phone service.
The folks at Voip.com had to train call center people in the middle of the night last night, just to keep up with all the inbound calls from Sunrocket subscribers who lost service due to the company’s sudden and unexpected shutdown yesterday. Calls keep pouring into Voip.com today too, at an even higher rate than last night. If you’re trying to get your phone number ported over to Voip.com, you may want to do it on the internet to avoid possible long hold time.
So why is Voip.com so busy? Because this is one of the last broadband phone service providers with a solid financial picture and absolutely no legal troubles. VoIP companies have been dropping like flies lately, it seems like. It all started with the lawsuit against Vonage, and Vonage’s poor financial statement a few months ago. Then AT&T got sued for copyright infringement too. Sunrocket obviously didn’t manage finances too well, because they were in deep financial doo-doo and looking for a buyer to rescue them – it never happened.
I myself have been looking into switching over to Voip.com (from Packet8 – another excellent VoIP company), simply for the increased cost savings. Voip.com offers great value for the money with their $199 “all inclusive” annual plan (just like the plan that Sunrocket was so popular for). Another thing I like about Voip.com is that they have an in-house development staff, and all of their support people are located right there on company premises (your call doesn’t get routed to a third world country, in other words). Here is my review on Voip.com.
Right now, Voip.com is offering free shipping and free setup for new annual plan subscribers (this is the best value at $199 a year – paid up front). If you want to subscribe to the monthly plan, you can get free shipping and 1 month of free service. The monthly plan costs $19.95 a month. Both of these plans provide unlimited local and long distance calling within the US, Canada and Puerto Rico. In order to get these deals and discounts, use the coupon code/promotion code LUCKY at checkout. Here is where to subscribe to Voip.com internet phone service.

VoIP.com would do better if they could have a real person answer their phone. Their auto attendant assumes you have only one line and want only one of two plans. Very frustrating that they don't have even one live person to escalate calls to.
Voip.com does have a real person to answer, you just have to wait your turn. From some forums, SunRocket numbers have taken a week to port over to Voip.com.

A number transfer always takes time. It's up to the carrier who holds the number not the receiving company. The receiving provider only initiates the porting.
I agree, voip.com is the best provider right now.
