Internet Phone Service - Great for the Holidays!

Internet phone service is a great way to save a lot of money on your phone bill and have every calling feature you could ever possibly want for free. VoIP is really wonderful to have during the holiday season especially, because this is a time when we want to be closer to all our loved ones. If you have an unlimited internet phone service plan, you can talk all you want for free!

Imagine calling all the long distance friends and relatives you want, and talking as long as you want to during the happy holiday season! Nice isn't it? Now imagine no long distance charges on your phone bill! Even nicer, right? With a cheap VoIP internet phone service plan that includes unlimited local and long distance calling (for $17 to $25 per month depending on the VoIP provider you choose), you can talk till your heart's content - for free!

One of the things I love most about my Packet8 internet phone service is the fact that I have one flat fee every month (around $22 with taxes, etc..) for my telephone service - period! With this cheap flat rate, I make several lengthy long distance calls a week and never see a long distance charge! Sweet! I usually log around 3000 minutes of local and long distance calling per month, and about 2/3 of that is long distance calls. Since I don't have to worry about spending money on long distance fees, I get to talk to my far-off friends and family a lot more than "pre-VoIP".

Before I got my VoIP service, my long distance bill averaged $50 per month, and my basic "land line" phone service was $25. I was paying $75 a month for local telephone service, and always felt like I had to "watch the clock" when making long distance calls. Now I no longer have land line phone service (had that disconnected a week after getting internet phone), and my bill runs $22. Instantly I'm saving over $50 per month - over $600 a year "in my pocket"! On top of that, I make many many long distance calls and no longer worry about how long I talk.

Internet phone service is a great way to get closer to the ones you love - especially when they live far away. It's not too late to order VoIP service and have it in time for the holidays. Simply choose a VoIP provider and subscribe. Within a week or so you'll get your VoIP adapter ("ATA"). Simply connect a couple of cables per the excellent instructions, dial a special number to activate your phone and make all the long distance calls you want for free!!

Here are my recommendations for VoIP providers:

Packet8 - Unlimited plan for $19.99/mo. Annual unlimited is $199/year.
Sunrocket - Annual unlimited calling - $199/year
Vonage - Unlimited plan for $24.99/mo. Includes free Europe calling.
AT&T CallVantage - Unlimited plan for $24.99/mo.

Sunrocket Internet Phone Service Makes Great Gift

SunRocket, Inc.

With the holidays just around the corner, many of us are trying to think of the "perfect gift" to get that special friend or relative who has everything. Rather than settling for an impersonal gift card or another sweater, consider giving the gift that really does keep on giving - Internet Phone Service.

With an internet phone service unlimited plan, your loved ones can make all the local and long distance calls they want and never see a long distance bill. All that's required is a broadband internet connection. Internet phone service is portable too - if your loved ones have more than one home, they can take their service with them.

All the best VoIP providers include tons of free features with a subscription to an internet phone service plan, which is a real treat for anyone accustomed to traditional phone service. Useful features such as call waiting, call forwarding, voicemail (throw away that answering machine), caller ID and call blocking are included with most plans, as well as many more calling features.

With internet phone service, your loved ones can talk as much as they want to long distance friends and relatives for no additional cost. This is a real treat - especially around the holidays when we all want to get together with family more often. Internet phone service is very inexpensive too - for less than the price of a dial tone with traditional phone service, you can have unlimited calling with VoIP, and get a ton of free features that you have to pay extra for with regular land line service.

The quality of internet phone service has come a long way in the past year or so, and as long as you choose a well known and reputable VoIP provider and have a good reliable broadband connection - you will not be able to tell the difference between internet phone service and land line phone service.

My pick for the perfect VoIP plan for a gift is Sunrocket. Here's why:

  • The Sunrocket annual plan is only $199 per year for unlimited local and long distance calls within the US, Canada and Puerto Rico. If you got this plan for a loved one for Christmas, they could disconnect their land line phone service and make all calls they want to without seeing a bill - for a whole year!
  • Right now (most likely only for the next few days) Sunrocket is giving away a free phone with each new annual subscription. This is like getting two gifts for the price of one! The free Sunrocket phone is a GE cordless phone that works perfectly with Sunrocket VoIP service.
  • Sunrocket is an extremely "customer focused" company, and they publicly display their commitment to excellent customer service right on their website. Sunrocket internet phone service offers exceptional customer support and even empowers their customer service people to make decisions "on the spot" to ensure quick customer satisfaction. I don't know of many companies that do this.
  • If your loved one wants to make international calls, the Sunrocket annual plan includes $3 in international calling credit per month. With international rates among the lowest in the industry, this can add up to 100 free minutes of international calling each month - depending on where you are calling to.
  • Sunrocket is so easy to set up, anyone can do it - even Grandma! When you order Sunrocket VoIP service, they send you a little device called a "gizmo" (which is their term for a VoIP adapter). You simply connect the network cable from your internet router to the gizmo, and then connect another cable from the gizmo to your computer. A telephone cable is then connected to the gizmo and the phone. These three simple cable connections are all that is required. Once the connections are made, you pick up the phone and dial a special number to activate the service. Within minutes your loved one can be making all the long distance calls they want to (within the US, Canada and Puerto Rico) - and they'll never see a long distance bill!
